Perhaps
the past century’s most extravagant and glamorous wedding
was held in Paris in June 2004 and who was there to help
cater for over 1,000 expectant and hungry guests?
Blue Elephant of course!

Maahi ve
and pop kitten Kylie Minogue regaled the crème de la crème
with a half-hour act at the Bollywood Night, setting the
tone for Vanisha
Mittal’s
wedding
to Amit Bhatia at the gardens of St Cloud, Paris.
“The Bollywood
brigade were great but the showstealer was Minogue,” said
Amit Rai from Rai University. Nattily dressed in a short
black dress, Minogue enthralled the rich and famous with her
sizzling moves. “This is the first time that Minogue has
performed on such an occasion and we were taken by
surprise,” he said.
Sporting the same red and black chikankari shervani that he
had worn in Kal Ho Naa Ho, Khan played the part of Vanisha’s
brother Aditya while Juhi Chawla (who came minus husband Jai
Mehta) did a good job as Aditya’s wife Megha. The hit pair
of the season, Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan gave a sneak
preview of how married life would be: as Amit and Vanisha
they performed on the songs from their hit, Hum Tum. “The
script revolved around how Amit and Vanisha meet, fall in
love and how life after marriage is, all brought out through
singing and dancing in Bollywood style,” said Rai.
Steel magnate Laxmi
Mittal’s
daughter Vanisha dazzled in a lehnga designed by Delhi
fashion designer Suneet Varma while the billionaire father
of the bride was dressed in a
blue
embroidered jacket.
Guests savoured a lavish spread of various cuisine from some
of the best restaurants in the world. “Besides the authentic
Indian cuisine, the spread of Thai food from
Blue Elephant,
Fulham, London, was simply sumptuous. It couldn’t get better
than this,” said Rai. If you don’t savour it here, where
would you? After all it’s the grand
Mittal wedding! |
