In October 2006, the Royal Thai Cuisine
restaurant "Blue Elephant Moscow" celebrated its first anniversary.
Enjoying the unique cuisine and interior that makes you feel like
you are in a tropical jungle with the sound of the waterfall and
aroma of orchids, it is difficult to believe that Moscow used to get
along without this restaurant.
It all began with the idea of astonishing Moscow. The owner of the
restaurant Milka Kresoja, Serbian by birth and a diplomat by
profession, met the representatives of the world-known chain Blue
Elephant in London. As a result the project was launched.
"According to Thai philosophy, the elephant is the protector of
science, culture and art," says Milka. "And blue is the color of
Royal Thai family. Blue Elephant Moscow is the 13th restaurant of
Blue Elephant franchise. This year we have done a lot. With the
support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the restaurant held the
Days of Thai culture and we were one of the sponsors of The Golden
Mask festival. The famous pianist Denis Matsuev presented his album
in our restaurant. Andris Liepa and the Bolshoi Theatre together
with Anita Tsoi gave an unforgettable performance. The pianist
Mikhail Pletnev, conductors Valery Gergiev and Konstantin Orbelyan,
singer Maria Gulegina and many high-ranked politicians often visit
us. We conducted Russia's first 'female rally' in old cars. Andrei
Konchalovsky chose the Blue Elephant restaurant as the location for
the closing scene of his latest movie Glamour. On December 5, the
restaurant, together with the Embassy of Thailand and Novinsky
Passage organized a diplomatic reception for 700 people on the
National holiday of the Kingdom of Thailand.
"Several words about Royal Thai cuisine. It is a completely new
approach to cooking and a healthy lifestyle in general. Over the
centuries of development of Siam's culinary art, the Thai have
discovered the secrets of food's influence on a person's body. The
restaurant's chefs studied in a special school-Bangkok Cooking
School 'Blue Elephant' and have mastered all the intricacies of Thai
cuisine.
"It is very nice to be the only such restaurant in Moscow, Russia
and even Eastern Europe.
"We have big plans for the future. Please, be prepared to be
astonished!"
