Khun Srisak
Wangtaphan Special skill: Stir fry
Khun Srisak comes from a very large and close knit family in
Nakornphanom in the North-East region of Thailand, close to the Laos
border. At thirteen he left school to join his sister in Laos who
was a cook for a prominent family. These early years with his sister
in the kitchens of a bustling household steered his interest towards
the profession which would latter on become his career.
Khun Srisak left Laos with the advent of the war, and for the next
three years, interestingly, he peddled ‘cycle-rickshaws’ in his home
town for a living.
However, his inherent interest in cooking drew him to Bangkok where he started working in the renowned ‘Chow Thao’ Chinese restaurant. Till today Khun Srisak retains his skill in Chinese cuisine. He then joined the Siam Intercontinental Hotel as a Thai chef for 9 years before being lured by the Blue Elephant group to Europe. Although his speciality is stir fries, Khun Srisak has a tremendous versatility in cooking. This feature along with his pleasant and amicable nature makes him the most popular chef to be sent to other venues and countries for Festivals, Promotions and functions, etc.
