Khun Sisouphanh Phiravong
Special skill: Grill Chef
Small in stature but big at heart and not to mention tremendous in
cooking skills, Khun Phan (real name being Sisouphan Phiravong) is
the current ‘Starter Chef’ for the Blue Elephant London. All the 400
or so orders of starters each night pass through his capable hands.
Khun Phan comes from Luangphaban in Laos, a city
renowned for its rich heritage and culture. Amidst all this
splendour, Phan escaped to Belgium to ‘earn his fortune’ when
he was in his late teens. |

It was in Brussels, in a restaurant
called ‘Vietnam’ that he got his first taste at cooking, which
had always been a passion for him. Not long after, in 1989, Khun Phan joined the kitchen team at the Blue Elephant
Brussels. Without any prior formal training in Thai cooking,
Phan was first placed in the dishwashing area. However, his
potential as a chef was inevitably recognised and he was
eventually trained in every area of the kitchen. Because of
his versatility, Khun Phan was transferred to Blue Elephant
London in 1995 where he remains to this day.
